A typical VT Distiller for SAP
implementation may include some or all of the following:
Product Model Health Check – determine what
changes, if any, should or must be made to the SAP VC product models for optimum
distillation and high-performance runtime configuration. For example, variant
functions in SAP ERP or R/3 may need be translated from ABAP.
Runtime Integration – design, develop, and test the
integration of the configurator within for example an existing or new Order
Management system, a web portal, a CRM system, etc.
Data Migration – extract product data, relations,
and configurator rules from existing data sources, either one-time or ongoing.
User Interface – design, develop, and test user
experiences that match the business processes around the configurator.
Sales Order and Quote Integration – once the
Configit Configuration Solution has produced a customer’s configuration, the
quote or order is to be uploaded to other components such as SAP ERP or R/3 for
further processing (create production order, routings, fulfillment…).
Staff Training– knowledge transfer to product
modelers and IT staff who will be responsible for running the VT Distiller
Integration and Acceptance Testing – verify that
the distilled Configit Configuration Solutions run the same way as its SAP VC
counterpart.
Deployment – define a process to distribute the
distilled Configit Configuration Solution to the target users, whether via the
web, CDs or DVDs, PDAs, and on one or more platforms including Microsoft .NET,
J2EE application servers, Microsoft Pocket PC, and Linux.
