SAP as a Customer/Partner

eSpline LLC was founded in November 2006 with the purpose of better servicing SAP Variant Configurator (VC) and Internet Pricing & Configurator (IPC) customers and to build software tools to supplement and improve the experience with configurator applications.

Our co-founders have participated in many SAP VC and IPC projects.  The customer name has been omitted and most work was performed by our consultants when working for other companies, not eSpline.

These are shown here to illustrate a representative examples of our partners experiences and skills.

Client: SAP AG (Walldorf, Germany)

When SAP sought a partner to co-develop a Java version of their product configurator, they chose Mr. Silverman as the first external member of their team, due to a high degree of similarity of SAP’s planned Sales Configurator Engine (SCE) with IntelliCorp’s object and rule system.

When SAP was ready to begin development in California of a Java version of their pricing engine, they sent Mr. Silverman to SAP headquarters in Walldorf, Germany to inject techniques and experience gained on the SCE project into the Sales Pricing Engine project (SPE).  These two components became the core of SAP’s Internet Pricing & Configurator (IPC) now widely used by SAP’s customers.

Client: SAP AG (Walldorf, Germany) and auto manufacturer ( France)

Project: Charged with design, modeling and management for product configuration portion of a strategic 4000-dealer global network development project between SAP AG and an auto manufacturer.

  • Advised both clients on application of existing SAP components (CRM, APO, R/3, IPC).

  • Designed and developed new, custom components (rule interpreter, engineering change management, Web user interface).

  • Defined interface for migration of configurator data to SAP.

Key Accomplishments:

  • Co-created custom rule interpreter to support client’s existing business processes, integrated with IPC

  • Collaborated with SAP team members to design integration of their configurator with reservation planning (APO) and vehicle mgmt. systems.

Project:  Played major role on SAP's "Internet Pricing and Configurator" Sales Pricing Engine (SPE) development team, recreating a large subset of R/3 SD pricing in Java that is now part of the IPC.

Key Accomplishments:

  • Selected by SAP as pivotal member of SAP R/3 pricing team at SAP headquarters in Germany.

  • Created project plans and contributed to the engine’s architecture, OO modeling, design patterns, use of Java and development tool evaluation.

Client: SAP Labs

Solid contributor to advanced-mode sales configurator design as part of SAP’s IPC development team.

Key Accomplishments:

  • Helped establish IntelliCorp’s multi-million dollar configure-to-order consulting program in both US and Europe

  • Implemented portions of the engine’s OO core, enhanced the grammar of the SCE dependency language using ABAP, co-authored a training course on advanced mode topics, and reviewed product design plans by editing SAP’s conceptual specification document.

Liaison to SAP development and problem-solver for multiple IntelliCorp projects; mentored consultants on the application of SAP products to address customer needs (configurator, pricer, product modeling, IPC’s advanced/classical modes, R/3 program interfacing and Java design).
